Daily Phonics Updates:
Your phonics session will consist of going through all the phase 2 and phase 3 phoneme flashcards. Then you will move onto the phoneme/digraph/trigraph for that day, practice writing it and finding it within words. After that your child can practice segmenting words to write, that include that sound. Finally, your child will read sentences that are set to challenge and support blending.
Using your flashcard you may notice that your child might still be trying to remember all the phonemes, diagraphs and trigraphs that we have been learning. Just support your child when going through the sounds. We practice the sounds everyday to support the children to deepen their knowledge and challenge misconceptions. All your children should be on phase 3 completing the work that has been set.
To support your daily phonics sessions, there are resources in your home learning pack:
- Tricky words
- High Frequency word mat
- Sound mat

Phonics Time Together Reading Videos
Our lovely English Hub Leader will also be uploading videos to help support you with delivering daily phonics with your child/children.
His videos may not be aligned with the phonemes/digraph/trigraph children are currently learning, but it will not harm them to recap the sound should you wish to use them.
Please note this should not be used instead of the phonics planning provided but in addition to it or for you to develop your own understanding of Phonics. These videos are a suggestion should you want to do extra phonic work with your child. These videos are not additional tasks either.
