‘make every day count’

Our enquiry-based approach takes children on a journey of memorable learning through rich and purposeful experiences! Each term we focus on a different area of the National Curriculum making links to current issues and the world around us.

Spring Term: Why Buy Local?

We will be exploring the question ‘Why buy local?’ This is an Explore project and focuses on Geography and Science. The children will learn all about where their food comes from, what it’s like to be a farmer here and in a contrasting European country and how our buying habits affect the climate crisis. They will consider how we can encourage people to buy from local shops and farm shops in particular.

Autumn Term: How will we leave our mark?

This term we have been exploring how the Shang Dynasty in Ancient China, left their mark on China and the rest of the world. We have discovered many interesting facts about this very clever and innovative civilisation! We have then been considering how we will leave our mark as the first EVER students to attend Hucknall Flying High Academy. We have been preparing a video that we are going to bury in time capsule at our 'Grand Opening' ceremony in the new year. We have decided that the time capsule should be dug up on the 25th anniversary of the school's opening so that future students can find out all about our learning in 2019!

Alongside our project we have been looking at Buddhism in RE, dragon eyes in Art and used mechanisms to create toy dragons in Design and Technology!
