Spring Term: Charlotte's Web by E.B. White

To link closely with our Enquiry about farming, we have chosen to read the heart-warming tale of Wilbur the pig and Charlotte the intelligent and resourceful barn spider!

This term, we will be covering a wider variety of genres, to build on the writing skills we have developed over Autumn term. We will be writing informal letters, reports on arachnids, poetry, newspaper reports and re-writing the story from a different character perspective. Along the way, we will continue to develop our knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and understanding of the text in lots of fun and interactive ways.

Autumn Term: The Firework Maker's Daughter by Philip Pullman

This term we have been studying The Firework Maker's Daughter by Philip Pullman. We are really enjoying learning in our immersive classroom which is closely linked to the theme of our Enquiry but also re-creates scenes from our novel! We can literally step inside our story book!

We have already written in a variety of genres and considered different audience and purpose. We have explored character, plot, rich language, grammar features and themes in the text and we've used these fantastic models to create our own creative and engaging writing!
