At Hucknall Flying High Academy we value the importance of outdoor learning and dedicate every Wednesday afternoon to exploring, playing and investigating our outdoor environment. 'Welly Wednesday's' allow us to take our Early Years curriculum into the great outdoors, come rain or shine.
The photographs below show you what we have been up to so far, look how much fun we have been having!
We explored our outdoor environment and drew pictures of our surroundings. On our investigation walk we found some houses, a road, a car park, forest school, a climbing frame, diggers and some builders. The builders gave us a wave and we watched them use their diggers to collect sand and build the houses. We enjoyed some stories on the grass and even had time for some singing!
Drawing our families
Together we had a dedicated talk time to listen and share ideas about who is in our families. We had time to describe, talk and ask questions and we explored how they are similar and how they are different. We are all very lucky to have families that love us, no matter how big or small! We used a range of materials to create our families exploring colouring pencils, felt tips and pastels. We decided that the pastels were our favourite so we had another go and used the pictures to create a display inside the classroom.
