Year 3/4 - Miss Newton & Miss DeLuce

Monday 20th July 2020

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Year 3 and 4!! You are very lucky this year as you will have two teachers! Our names are Miss DeLuce and Miss Newton. We are very excited to be your new teachers and cannot wait to eventually see you all in our brand new classrooms. Miss DeLuce is going to lead the year 3 class whilst Miss Newton will lead the year 4 class.

Over the next few weeks, we will be getting to know each other a little bit better in preparation for September. We will be posting weekly videos and messages here on the transition page along with lots of fun and exciting work for you to do at home!

You will receive Maths, English, Reading, and Art activities to complete each day at home. You can send your fabulous work to us at Homelearning@hucknallfha.co.uk  You will also shortly receive a transition pack in the post of some nice 'getting to know you' activities! We are also going to send you a little bit of information about us so that you can get to know your teachers too.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and we can't wait to see your superb work!!

Maths

Year 2

This week you will continue to learn about the mass of various objects and how to measure this. I have also added some additional worksheets for you to complete if you wish.

Summer holiday homework:

Over the summer holidays I would like all of my wonderful year 2 children to continue to practice their 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables, which will support them as they move into year 3. Don't forget, you can log into your Times Tables Rockstars account to practise and compete against other children. Good Luck!

Year 3

This week we are focusing on turns and angles. We will explore angles in more detail alongside horizontal, vertical, parallel and perpendicular lines.

Summer holidays homework:

Over the summer holidays I would like all of my wonderful year 3's to continue to practise the 2, 3, 5, and 10 times tables. If you find these super duper easy, then why not try the 4, 7 and 8 times tables.

Remember, you can always log into your Times Tables Rockstars account to practise and compete against other children. Good Luck!

English

This week we will be looking ahead to the summer holidays and using our imaginations to create our very own holiday island! This could be a hot or cold island and can include all of your favourite things to do!

Spellings for Year 2

Over the summer holidays, we would like you to continue to practise your spellings. Spellings are really important to help you when reading and writing. You can make this fun by reading, writing, practising and then putting the words into a silly sentence.

Eg: 'people' 'plant' 'grass' could turn into a silly sentence: 'I plant people in the grass.'

Reading
This week, we are going to be reading a wonderful story by Benji Davies called 'Grandad's Island'.
Design
You might find that we have some rainy days during the summer holiday! This week we will spend some time thinking about our favourite board games, what we like or don't like about them and then using this information to design our very own board games!
