Meet the Team
Miss Soar - Class Teacher
Hello! My name is Miss Soar, and I am excited to be teaching Foundation 2 this year! My favourite subject is phonics. I love it because it’s incredible to see children unlock the world of reading and gain confidence in their language skills. Watching their faces light up when they recognise a sound or read a word for the first time is so rewarding!
One of my favourite books is The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. I love this story because it beautifully captures the themes of friendship, bravery, and adventure. I think it’s such an inspiring reminder that even the smallest of us can make a big difference. The illustrations are also so vibrant and captivating, bringing the story to life in such a magical way.
Outside of school, I enjoy travelling, shopping, and reading. I love exploring new places and cultures when I travel, finding unique treasures while shopping, and relaxing with a good book to escape into different worlds.
Miss Kenny - Lead EYFS Teacher
Hello! My name is Miss Kenny and I am incredibly lucky to be one of the teachers in Spitfire class. My favourite subject in school is Literacy because I love our novel study approach of reading a story over a period of time and slowly uncovering the book.. one page at a time. Over the half term we build suspense towards the ending and immerse ourselves into the story. I love to set the scene in my classroom, give the children clues and work towards a beautiful piece of writing. My favourite story is our Literacy text 'The Great Paper Caper' by Oliver Jeffers. I love the detailed illustrations and how we can learn about taking care of our forests through a beautifully written book. On the weekend I love to visit lots of different coffee shops and go shopping.
Miss Wilkinson - Teaching Assistant
My name is Miss Wilkinson and I am the teaching assistant in Spitfires this year! My other role is to be an ELSA where I help lots of children across school with their emotional well-being! My favourite subject is Phonics because it teaches you the skills to read and write. Once you can do it, it opens up a world of opportunities! My favourite book is 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson! When I'm at home I love to spend time with my little girl and we especially like arts and crafts or making mud pies in the mud kitchen!
