At Hucknall Flying High, we believe that every child should be nurtured and supported to develop their spiritual, social, moral and cultural curiosity and therefore evolve into informed citizens of the world who value, respect and appreciate a variety of religions and world views. As such, we believe in the importance of equipping our pupils with the fundamental knowledge to understand the diverse and evolving impact of religion on the lives of people in different cultures, places and communities. This ensures that when our pupils leave us, they are religiously literate individuals who can connect with, critically reflect on and apply their growing understanding of religion to their own lives, the world and their wider experiences. 

To ensure that our children receive a high-quality curriculum, underpinned by An Ethic of Excellence, we provide the children with opportunities to explore faiths and world religions, aligned with our local context across Nottinghamshire. We foster a sense of belonging within our school community and nurture the children to develop a rich and authentic understanding of the diverse world we live in. The children throughout their time at Hucknall Flying High Academy explore many religious, spiritual beliefs and world views, encountering multi-faith leaders, places of worship and authentic learning experiences. Our safe and respectable school culture ensures that children are supported in their religious beliefs or their developing curiosity of faiths and the context and unique experiences of our children are valued and celebrated.

Our aims are to ensure that all pupils:

• Demonstrate respect, understanding and mutual respect towards religious beliefs, cultures and world celebrations. 
• For children to make sense of the world in which we live, facilitating a safe and respectful environment where knowledge is shared and curiosity is developed. 
• To support the spiritual, social, moral and cultural development of our children and enable them to become informed global citizens equipped with knowledge to engage and appreciate world religions. 
• To understand that all communities across the world are valued and unique and children have the chance to foster a sense of belonging.

RE Key Knowledge Progression Document 

Our R.E curriculum also strives for academic excellence and aligns with the 6A's curriculum principles. Our curriculum is also rich in vocabulary and experiences and has been designed meticulously to build upon prior learning, making connections where possible across our wider curriculum. The intent of knowledge has been carefully considered, using the key knowledge progression document (KKPDs) from the Flying High Partnership. This ensures that the content taught to the children is knowledge rich and progressive from Nursery to Year Seven. The content choices derived from the KKPD documentation has ensured that the teaching that we deliver is relevant to the communities that we serve across Hucknall, Nottinghamshire and is authentic for the children within our school context.
