What is the History within me?
For our first enquiry the children will explore what is significant about their own History, talking about the importance of their birthday and how they have grown and changed over time, looking at old baby pictures of both the children and the adults to observe these changes. We will also look at similarities and differences in the way we look and how each of the children's families are special and unique. Alongside this, we will celebrate the different heritage and cultural differences within our Nursery, looking at maps of the world and exploring different languages. As part of our enquiry the children will work towards creating their own 'What is the History Within Me?' book which we will take to share with the librarians at our local library."
Our Key Enquiry Texts
Throughout the enquiry we will explore the key texts below, we like to ensure the texts we choose are high-quality and engage the children in their current learning.
Our Journey of Learning
We document our enquiry learning weekly and keep these displayed within our classroom all year. We often talk to the children about our previous and current enquiries, and keeping these up allow us to revisit our key knowledge, vocabulary and learning.
Sticky Facts
To ensure we are developing and revisiting key knowledge throughout our enquiry, we expose the children to 'sticky facts', these are weekly facts which link to our current learning. Attached below are the specific sticky facts we taught and learnt during the Autumn Term in Nursery. Throughout the year, we will revisit these with the children to ensure consolidation of learning.
